With the newest directives from the Governor's office comes the possibility of re-opening the studio. We believe an abundance of caution is necessary and we are also looking ahead with plans to re-open incrementally over the next six weeks. Here's our current timeline and safety plan:
For the remainder of May we will only be offering online art-making sessions. Create & Connect sessions are offered on Tuesdays from 4-6pm, Thursdays from 6:30-8:30p and Saturdays from 10:30a-12:30pm.
We highly encourage participation even if you have limited supplies. No two sessions are alike and we always encourage people to get adventurous with the nontraditional materials in their homes (like ketchup or recyclables).
Single devices can login for $5 and we also have a special offer for you to reserve a private "zoom room" with family and friends across the country! Learn more and register here.
Registration is also now open for all summer camps.
We have a tentative plan to re-open for weekend Open Studio hours beginning in June. Advanced registration will be required and we will limit participation to 10 people. If there is more demand, we'll add additional 2-hour windows to the schedule during the week.
Currently our summer art camps for ages 8-18 are set to start beginning the week of July 6. Camps will occur at the studio or at a nearby outdoor location (depending on topic). We are also planning ways to offer distance learning options, which will include delivery of supplies/equipment at the beginning of the week.
One of the things that I know in my bones, is that art helps. It helps us process fear and feel joy - and has the power to hold all of life on a canvas or in a song.
We are all holding on to a lot of life right now - trying our best to balance the uncertainty of how life is changing, with the important need to carry on when we can. That’s the footing we are trying to find at Courageous heARTS as well.
I have been listening to our public health officials and reviewing the latest data with our board of directors to make the best decision we can for our community and their rings of connection. As of today, we will continue to follow the lead of Minneapolis Public Schools and remain open to the public. This is an evolving decision which could change at any time in the coming days. We are trying our best to respond to the urgency of the present moment, while taking steps to move into a new normal for the foreseeable future.
We are taking the following precautions at the studio to help flatten the curve:
As we transition to this new normal, we ask for your help in the following ways:
Thank you for supporting this space and our mission. We will keep you posted with any new updates as we have them. If you have any questions, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
