With Governor Walz' new "stay-at-home" orders announced yesterday, heARTS will be extending our closure until at least May 6. Due to this extended closure, we will be canceling all of the remaining digital art classes being offered this spring. In addition, we are delaying the announcement of our summer schedule for a couple more weeks as we consider the newest information from public health officials, and adapt to maintain our commitment to community care.

As we move into this extended closure, we will continue to support creative expression and exploration in the following ways:
  1. We are prepared to deliver Creative Care packages to a limited number of families in need. We want to prioritize families who do not have art materials at home, or have lost income due to the coronavirus. In addition, to honor travel restrictions, we will only deliver to folks living in the zip codes directly surrounding the studio: 55406, 55407, 55409, and 55417. Supplies will be packed using precautions recommended by health professionals and delivered to doorsteps with no contact to maintain physical distance. Deliveries will happen weekly on Thursdays, as our stock allows. Complete the request form here.
  2. There has been an abundance of online resources floating through the interwebs to access virtual plays, museums, and art projects (think nature made art supplies!) We are gathering those resources and have created a dedicated page on our website for you to reference.
  3. We are currently exploring online meet-up options and will announce any new plans for this as we have them. Take this survey to help us figure out a schedule that works!
During this closure, one resource we have to sustain us is our youth-designed coloring book! Color Me Courageous is a non-virtual field trip of all the great places around the Twin Cities you can't visit right now - why not color them instead?! ALL ages will appreciate the awesome art created by our talented youth artists. Books are for sale through our website for $20 + shipping. Our remaining stock is at my house, and I'm ready to receive orders and get them in the mail!

In community, and with care-

Lindsay

Do you plan on reopening once we get back to some kind of normal?
