Join THE YAB!

The Youth Advisory Board is looking for community-minded high schoolers to be a part of our teen council that helps to lead courageous heARTS.

Ideal Candidates:
  • Are in 8th-11th grade
  • Live in Minneapolis
  • Are able to commit to Wednesday meetings
  • Have an inter​est in art, community building, and social justice

Selection includes a short application (see below) and an interview with current YAB members.

What You'll Give

As a member of the YAB, you can expect to:
  • Volunteer 2-3 hours a week for the organization.
  • Attend weekly meetings on Wednesday evenings and occasional community events.
  • Learn about nonprofits, fundraising, community outreach and program development.
  • ​Ensure teens have access to a stress-free, creative space in the neighborhood.
  • Show the community how awesome youth are!

What YOu'll Get

YAB members:
  • Lead a non-profit by guiding its internal values
  • Design and lead PLACE projects in the community
  • Receive a Studio Scholarship which includes free studio time, $5 workshops and other great discounts!
  • Gain valuable leadership skills and a great resume builder!
  • Meet their school volunteer requirements
