Courageous heARTS - Make art. Together.

Creating Conversation Through Public Art

Beyond guiding the direction of the organization, our Youth Advisory Board facilitates public art projects that are designed with PLACE in mind. The acronym, developed by the YAB, stands for:

Practice Leadership: The YAB builds their leadership skills by designing and executing these projects in the community. Other than some administrative support from adults, these projects are all theirs!

Awareness: PLACE projects build awareness about youth perspectives by offering an opportunity to voice opinions and share experiences. A nice by-product is that since these projects are typically based in the community, we also get to build awareness for Courageous heARTS!

Collaboration: Through PLACE projects, the YAB often collaborate with schools, businesses, and other nonprofits. Projects also harness the power of creativity and connection to explore and promote collaboration between and among community participants.

Engagement: As mentioned before, PLACE projects typically take place away from our studio. We like to pop-up in community spaces to engage youth, neighbors, business owners, and passerby in the power and potential of creative conversation.
